LHF – Lighthouse Festival
Electronic Music Festival – Poreč, Croatia
“Electronic music on vacation” is the tagline of the Lighthouse Festival, which took place for the sixth time at a holiday resort on the coast of the Istrian peninsula in western Croatia during the first weekend of June.
If you’ve only experienced multi-day festivals in their traditional form (campgrounds, porta-potties, increasing personal dishevelment), the concept sounds quite appealing: depending on your budget, you can rent a hotel room, a villa, or a bungalow on the premises, allowing you to take full advantage of the available infrastructure. You can then tailor your experience to lean more towards vacation or more towards partying, based on your personal preferences.
The holiday resort, covered with extensive forest areas, is spacious enough to always provide plenty of space for retreat. Located right on the coast, there’s always the opportunity to wander along the cliffs or take a dip in the sea, all within walking distance.
The festival itself is remarkably versatile in its programming. There’s a large main stage with a breathtaking panoramic view right by the water, but it’s only active daily from 7 PM to midnight. Another smaller beach floor is open non-stop—the only one of its kind.
Otherwise, several smaller floors are scattered throughout pine groves or set in specially converted club spaces, such as the “Nassraum,” which is only open for two nights and can easily hold its own in terms of sound and vibe against any proper club, as well as special one-offs such as a local Pizzeria or the local pool.
