AO& Collective, with Roland Velich and Christian Seiler – Müllendorf, Austria
Symposium for Setting and Programming.
For more than a week Philipp Furtenbach, artist and chef of the group AO&, along with journalist Christian Seiler and his friend, winemaker Roland Velich, took over a chalk quarry in Müllendorf, Burgenland. Every evening, a dozen people gathered there—on the southern slope of the Leitha Mountains—to discuss topics such as self-sufficiency, spatial planning, or tourism. These discussions took place in the hangar of the quarry’s crawler excavator.
The goal was to “explore a contemporary relationship between humans and the landscape, reveal connections between production and distribution, question societal habits, and in both word and deed, present alternatives to the status quo.
