Red Cross Headquarters & Municipal Administration

Architektur Atelier – Vaduz, Liechtenstein

The proposed project is conceived as an embodiment of the spatial program, which is primarily defined by the different uses (municipal administration, Liechtenstein Red Cross, and workshop operations). These uses vary in their level of equipment and required ceiling height. “The Roof” addresses these conditions by grouping units with the same ceiling height together and stacking the respective room groups vertically.

At the top, the general administrative offices are housed in open and bright spaces, unified on one floor, forming the protective roof of the over-height workshop below. Similarly, the emergency vehicles of the LRK are located on the base level at Wuhrstrasse.

Finally, the basement houses the parking garages, archive, and technical rooms. The varying ceiling heights not only give the building its character but also reflect its internal use.
