The tree hugging is over

“The tree hugging is over” is an ongoing series that explores various mountainous regions of western Austria and eastern Switzerland. The markings, either by numbers, initials or signs, on each individual tree, not only indicate which trees need to be cut down, but also their rightful owners. These markings, just like in the series “Get of my Property” are meant to be seen! Of course no forest owner would want to give up even the smallest tree considering today’s high prices, especially for wood and for building materials in general..

The more intense and contrary a color is, the greater the contrasting effect to the referring image background is, in terms of the graphical effect. The images presented are an excerpt from a much larger series of photographs, currently comprising around 200 images. Most of the photographs are taken with ordinary color negative film, again producing beautiful colours and film grain within a shallow depth of field.
