Leonardo Icon – Biblioteca Ambrosiana

Daniel Libeskind – Milan, Italy

Milan’s Biblioteca Ambrosiana can lay claim to having the world’s largest collection of works by Leonardo da Vinci. But on an average weekday morning the galleries devoted to the Renaissance artist can be virtually empty.

In a rebranding effort meant to attract more visitors, the institution has sought help from star architect and part-time Milan resident, Daniel Libeskind, who designed a new 14-foot steel sculpture for the small piazza in front of its main entrance.
